First Mommie blog

I have decided that I wanted to document all the little quirks and quips of being a first time mom and thought it would be fun to start a blog. There is too much drama in the world and we need a laugh sometimes. Like the jet-stream of pee that shoots out when you are attempting to change a diaper. Yah that's a load of fun. Lol. Anyways, enjoy.

Perhaps, after all, romance did not come into one’s life with pomp and blare, like a gay knight riding down; perhaps it crept to one’s side like an old friend through quiet ways; perhaps it revealed itself in seeming prose, until some sudden shaft of illumination flung athwart its pages betrayed the rhythm and the music; perhaps … perhaps … love unfolded naturally out of a beautiful friendship, as a golden-hearted rose slipping from its green sheath.

My baby gorilla

Lucas is now almost 19lbs and 28 in long. His head circumference is in the 95th percentile and his length the 91st. Surprisingly, at least for me, his weight is only in the 61st. That is heavy enough for me. Soon enough, my name will be Superwoman because I will have arms of steel. This “lil” guy is solid like a brick. I guess the best way to describe it is the baby from The Incredibles at the very end when the villain is trying to kidnap him. Watch it. You will die laughing. His hair is coming in more and more a little at a time. His face changes daily and he is starting to look more like his dad. He is the sweetest thing ever. One thing he did today was so adorable. I had him in his highchair and his Aunt Brianne was standing next to him and we were just talking. Out of the corner of my eye, I see him turn his head to look at her and reach his hand out to her. She took his hand and he smiled. It was the cutest thing ever. I have such a precious child. So we took turns showing him what “can I have your hand” was and he just got a kick out of it. He just blows me away. He has also scared himself several times by rolling over 2x in a row. He will roll from his stomach back onto his back, look at me like “what the heck” and roll over again. It’s hilarious. I don’t know what else to say today; I’m just happy. :)

short word before …..he wakes up

As many of you other moms are going through or have gone through, we never know when our lil one will wake up from a nap. So we try to get as much stuff done as possible in between that time. I swear, once he goes down, I go like 2x or more faster than I normally do throughout the day when he is up. Its like putting me in fast forward. Then at the end of the day, I am so tired I just plop and fall over. lol. Us mothers should get paid for being stay-at-home moms. We do so much stuff. Right now, I am fortunate enough to have maybe 5 minutes before he gets up. Anywho, Lucas is doing great. He now has a highchair and sometimes he fights me to not go in it. Does anyone else experience that? I don’t understand. It’s like I am exposing him to the plague. lol. He is eating solids. So far he has liked everything from bananas to peas but yesterday I fed him beef and well lets just say I couldn’t stop laughing. He did NOT like it at all. Poor guy. I ended up feeding him the rest of his bananas in the end. Oh well. Next time. Nothing else is new really. He turns 6 months on Sunday, and I can not believe it. Time is just flying by. I sure love him. He is the best gift ever.

lol.

So here I am for the fourth time trying to write on my “mommy” blog and it’s funny how this relates to being a mom. You try to start something and then so many things distract you and detour you from finishing your task. I’m not complaining at all; I find it rather funny. I’ve come to realize if I let the little things get to me, I won’t be able to enjoy the little things and laugh at the things that get to me, because in the end, what’s the most important thing? Not my blog, but my family. If I can’t get the laundry done, oh well. It’s not the end of the world. If I have to change my outfit 3-4 times a day due to spitup, food or whatever else manages to decorate my clothes, oh well. I have to laugh it off. In the end, it is funny. Life is to short. Enjoy what really is important. I know I am. Here is a picture of what is most important in my life.

tumblrbot asked: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE INANIMATE OBJECT?

My comfy chocolate fleece blanket. It is awesome. I would take it anywhere with me if I could. So comfy. :)

Naptime dawdlings

So after a good couple months, I am back. Most of you I talk to on a regular basis so you have an idea of what’s been going on in my “hectic” life. lol. Lucas is now 20wks old. It can get very confusing when you get those emails that tell you what week you are up to with your child but then it comes at different days during the week. I know he turns 5 mos on Dec 1. But then people want to know how many weeks. It can get very confusing. lol. Right now Lucas is napping, so I have a few minutes to catch you all up on the latest Lucas doings. He weighs about 17lbs now, and his head circumference is in the 95th percentile. I guess that means he has a big brain. ;) That’s my guy. He smiles so much now, and I get a giggle out of him a couple times throughout the day. My mom can make him laugh like no other. It is hilarious. Solids have been started and so far he likes everything(on his face, hands, pants, shirt, legs, me). lol He loves peas, squash, pear, carrots and rice cereal. I have tried all of them and frankly I don’t blame him. I could eat this stuff on a regular basis. He has gotten really good at holding his head up now. I can’t say he enjoys tummy time yet, but he holds his head up for a long time. He has also rolled over, and rolls over seconds after I place him on a blanket. It’s quite funny. Lucas has also taken up the art of communication and spends the whole day telling me about his philosophies on life. Wish I could understand him though. I am sure it is some very insightful stuff. :) We have made several friends in the neighborhood as a result of going on walks everyday. All the kids in the neighborhood come and talk to him when we are out. He is definitely a social butterfly. I am so blessed to have this little guy in my life. He has brought a joy that is indescribable. He is my little piece of heaven.

It’s been awhile

So as you may or may not have noticed, I have not posted in awhile. I have been abducted by aliens and do I have some stories to tell you. Of course that is not true. I have been working full time as a mom and man it is definitely a full time job. (huge exhale) From changing diapers, to feeding, to changing diapers, to feeding, to attempting to put him down for a nap, then picking him back up because you realize again you need to change his diaper because…oh what is that smell? It’s definitely been a challenge, but I have learned so much. For example, do not feed your child 8 oz of formula each bottle even if it appears they are hungry, because they are not and now have a serious tummyache. Or, prune juice works exceptionally well when your baby is constipated. Thank the Lord! My favorite thing I have learned is that a vacuum cleaner is an amazing invention when your baby is crying hysterically just because. Oh, and so is the noise box. Every expecting parent Must get one. It is amazing! Also, when you get frustrated beyond belief and you are ready to tear your hair out, unless you already have, just look at this beautiful child God has given you and no matter how upset or tired or frustrated you are, you will smile. And he/she may just smile back.
